A wall sconce is often used as an accent item. They are often used in pairs on either side of a mirror or painting. They also look striking in their own. Of course ones holding live plants must have adequate sunlight. Those with candles or electric bulbs can enliven dark corners. Many people think these items are for only the living room or entryway. However, these versatile decorations can beautify a wall in any room. Sconces can go above the headboard in the bedroom or flank the mirror in the bathroom. It is always a good idea to hang a sconce, particularly if it is heavy or will be heavy when loaded, over a wall stud. Hardware and home improvement stores generally carry inexpensive stud finders to help determine the safest place to hang a sconce or other decorative item.
Sconces are made up of different materials like wood, brass, metal, chrome and many more. This allows you to be more creative when designing with bathroom lighting sconces. Generally bathroom lighting sconces are situated on either side of the mirror coupled with a general overhead light. Sconces used this way are usually the single bulb types. What it does is light the sides of your face so that you won`t get shadows streaking your features. This would be a good option if you wear make up since it provides a good light source.
Sconces have form that can`t be duplicated by anything else. For example, many people like to read in bed just before they go to sleep. A ceiling or table lamp produce a lot of light, but are not as efficient as a reading sconce light. Why? Putting the light directly behind you at the right angle illuminates the pages very well. Doorway sconces are another example of a hard to duplicate form. If you don`t have a roof on your porch, a sconce light is obviously the best choice. What other choice would there be?
